On the way home I drove through a small hamlet called Gwernesney with its mediaeval church next door to a farm. It is rather a special church because at the west end is a 15th century baptistry screen which is the first that I have ever seen. It encloses the font on three sides.
There is also part off a mediaeval screen here too and some stations of he cross dating from the beginnings of the Oxford movement. There are two very early 13rth century bells here too. |
